From Amazon.com: This title is the homage of a modern furniture designer to the ancient Egyptian art of furniture-making. Dan Svarth has studied ancient Egyptian furniture in the National Museum in Cairo, measuring and drawing. Based on these drawings the author has produced models in scale 1:5 and selected types are illustrated by photographs of these models.
The chapters deal with a wide range of furniture such as biers and beds, chairs, stools, tables, chests and caskets. The book has chapters on materials, tools and technique, with illustrations of the ancient tools as well as selected joints used by ancient Egyptian furniture-makers.

Reviewed by Francesca: This book differs from the usual guides, as it describes the historical evolution, from the Old Kingdom to the Late Period, of the tombs and temples of Thebes (modern Luxor). The authors provide detailed and accurate information about life in the city. Subjects covered include the Valley of the Kings, that of the Queens and of the Nobles. Issues such as tomb decoration and burials of private individuals are addressed. This is an excellent, recommended, must-read book for all.
