Winlock conjures up a procession of vanished figures from Hatshepsut's court, Winlock also details the conditions and emotions surrounding archaeological fieldwork -- the surges of optimism and despair, the exhilaration of an unexpected find.

From AEB: The restoration of the wall-paintings in Nefertari's tomb by the Getty Conservation Institute was one of the great adventures in Egyptology of the 1980s and 1990s. This beautifully illustrated German account of the work contains many images not seen in English-language books. The text describes what we know of the life of Ramesses II's principal wife, one of the only royal partners to be deified during her lifetime.
