Celle-ci, par sa densité, son inspiration et sa rigueur, le place parmi les plus brillants savants de sa génération. Professeur émérite à l’université de Lyon II, où il a enseigné de 1977 à 2000, il a aussi été pendant de nombreuses années directeur scientifique de la Mission permanente du CNRS à Karnak. De la variété de ses intérêts et du nombre de ses amis résulte le panel très diversifié des contributions présentées ici et qui, parfois, viennent en écho lointain, se rattacher à ses propres travaux.

Contextual information is added on the Valley of the Queens, the workmen's village at Deir el-Medineh and the ritualistic voyage to eternity as it is displayed in the royal tomb. The text concludes by describing the work of the Getty Conservation Institute, which undertook a programme of meticulous management and monitoring to preserve the fragile paintings.

Work on the tomb is described along with an explanation for the origins of the joint project of the Egyptian Antiquities Organization and the Getty Conservation Institute to rehabilitate the tomb, and the techniques employed in the rehabilitation itself.

Du site de l'éditeur : Le présent ouvrage étudie un corpus de 79 inscriptions non funéraires d’Alexandrie ptolémaïque dont la provenance est sûre ou fort probable, découvertes au cours des XIXe et XXe siècles, et appartenant à une période qui va de la fondation d’Alexandrie en 331 jusqu’à la conquête romaine en 30 av. J.-C., c’est-à-dire environ deux siècles et demi.

Du site de l'éditeur : Ce volume consacré aux inscriptions grecques de la ville d’Hermoupolis Magna et de Touna el-Gebel, la nécropole, est le second tome, après les Inscriptions grecques et latines d’Akô ris (BdE 103, 1988), du corpus destiné à rassembler les textes épigraphiques de la Moyenne Égypte. La présentation des inscriptions issues de ces deux sites majeurs est précédée d’un historique des fouilles et des découvertes destiné à faire apparaître les progrès de la prospection archéologique.
